Automobile Maintenance
Oil Change
Most mechanics recommend that you change your car oil every three months. Without a fresh and adequate supply of oil, your engine will quickly begin to break down and could even catch fire. Checking your oil is extremely easy. Simply pull out the oil dipstick and observe whether the oil is above or below the minimum mark. If the oil is near or below the minimum mark and if it looks dark in color, it is time for an oil change. If this is the case, simply give us a call and we’ll have one of our mobile mechanics come to you.
Brake Pad Replacement
It’s recommended that you have your brake pads replaced every 30,000 to 35,000 miles of urban driving and 80,000 miles of highway driving. Using your brake pads beyond these limits will result in slower braking, increasing the likelihood of getting into an accident. If you notice squeaking and grinding sounds coming from your wheels, if your car is vibrating when you push the brake pedal, or it the brake pad indicator light is on, it is time for you to replace your brake pads. If you’ve noticed any of these signs, don’t hesitate to give us a call.
Deflated Tires
Deflated tires are one of the most common problems that car owners face. Allowing your tires to deflate is a bad idea for several reasons. Deflated tires have less traction, they can result in lower gas mileage, and they can even cause structural damage to your wheel rims. If you have a flat tire on your hands, call Elite Mobile Mechanics of Richmond. It’s important to have a mechanic check you tires for holes or other wear and tear, and replace the tire if necessary.
Air Filter Replacement
While it may seem like a minor problem, it is important to make sure that you replace your car’s air filter on a regular basis. Some mechanics recommend that you have your car’s air filter replaced every 12,000-15,000 miles. The air filter keeps dirt and grime from getting into your car’s engine. Failure to replace your air filters will allow these particles to get inside your engine, decreasing the engine’s effectiveness as well as shortening its lifespan. You will know if your filter needs to be replaced simply by looking at it. If it is full of dust and dirt, it is time to get a new air filter. Additionally, sometimes a dirty air filter will trigger your car’s check engine light. If your car is in need of a new air filter, give us a call.
Belt Replacement
One of the most important parts of a car to maintain are its belts. The timing and serpentine belts are essential for many of your car’s functions. Over time, these belts can become worn and cracked. Both of these belts are essential for your engine to work properly. If either one breaks, the car battery could fail, or the engine could overheat or even break down entirely. Some mechanics recommend that you have your timing and serpentine belts replaced approximately every 50,000 miles. If this is the case, or if you’ve heard a loud squeaking noise coming from your car engine, it’s likely your car’s belts need to be replaced.
